SETTING/ACHIEVING ANY GOAL FOR 2008

SETTING/ACHIEVING ANY GOAL FOR 2008

As an individual and in my family, the year 2008 has begun already. Many are still waiting for January to come. If you are still waiting for January to come before you start planning for 2008…. Sorry, It may be too late.

Begin to start preparing and planning your goals for the year 2008, NOW. We all have goals that are important to us. They range from quitting laziness, to creating our own businesses, to raising great children. Unfortunately, most of us also have the experience of being unable to reach our goals, of having them always seem just out of reach. We can see them. We want to complete them, but we never quite cross that finish line. Here are some tips that are real and can work for anyone. They will help you reach your goals, every time!

1.Be sure of what you want to achieve. Precisely define the objective.

Exactly what do you want? How do you want it? Measure it, put a number on it. How many pounds do you want to lose? How many dollars do you want to earn? No one can achieve an ambiguous or a fuzzy goal. Be precise.

2.Balance the objective with your purpose and values.

Do you know your purpose on earth? Do you have values? Do you know what you value? You won’t work toward a goal that conflicts with your values or sense of purpose. Make sure your goals are consistent with your religious and moral beliefs, and with other goals that you have. Internal conflict will undermine your performance, every time!

3.Use your words/mouth.

By the words of your mouth you shall be justified or condemned. It’s with your words that you will change your world. Your words will either make you or mar you. A series of positive, powerful, present tense statements that describe the benefits of having your goal and how you’ll feel when you’ve reached it are essential. They should be short, active, exciting, and you will need to write them down and repeat them many times, every day!

4.Put up powerful reasons why you must achieve your goals.

"If you have enough why’s, you’ll find a way." We reach goals that excite us, that stimulate our imaginations. We reach goals that are vital to our health, our family and our future. Find lots of reasons! When it’s important enough, you’ll make it happen.

5.Write your goals and your reasons down!

Any goal that is not written down is yet a goal. Write your goals on file cards every day! There is power, magic and mystery in writing your goals down, it reminds you of your commitment. Put the cards where you’ll see them through the day. Put them on your mirror, or on your desk. Carry them with you and read them, over and over, through the day.

6.Let there be a deadline for all your goals.

Be bold to set a time frame when you must achieve a set goal. Again, have the courage to be exact. Must read a book every month, double your income by the end of this year, and prepare my Sunday sermon by Friday. A goal without a deadline is just a pipe dream! Give yourself the discipline of a date.

7.Share your goals with others.

Share your goals with others. Tell friends and family what you plan to do, and your target date. Most of them will not believe it but never mind. Ask them to hold you accountable and to help you along the way. Knowing your friends are rooting for you is a powerful motivator. Set yourself up for success by making a public commitment to reach your goals on time.

8.Partner or network with others.

One person cannot achieve great goals or dreams. Form synergy with positive people. Collaborate with people that can help you, motivate or inspired you to achieve your goals. High achievers rarely do anything significant by themselves. Get a running partner; make a friendly bet with your spouse to start waking up early, make it a family project to get out of debt. Always have at least one person who totally supports you, and make sure they are part of your campaign. Look for a model.

I want you to try these tips… they will work for you because they work for me. I want you to succeed and you will succeed. If you have any comments please, I will be glad to receive them.
